AI PCAP Analyzers Compared (2026)
Online and desktop tools that analyze a packet capture, compared on what a buyer asks first: can I sign up today, what does it cost, where is my capture analyzed, and what do I get at the end. Every row comes from the vendor's public pages, checked on November 6, 2026.
We make PcapAI, so read our row with that in mind. Each other row links to the page it comes from; if something has changed, tell us at contact and we will correct it.

How to Choose
- You owe a client, ISP or vendor a report today and want no sales call: PcapAI. The summary is free; the PDF is $9 by card.
- Captures over 50 MB, or captures that cannot leave your network: PacketSafari or CloudShark on-premise, or Wireshark, Zui and NetworkMiner on your own machine.
- Wi-Fi clients on a Meraki network: the Meraki AI PCAP Analyzer in your dashboard, on captures your access points already take.
- A free, interactive look at a suspicious capture: Red Hand Analyzer.
- Frame-by-frame debugging or live capture: Wireshark. No online analyzer replaces it.
- Files and credentials pulled out of a capture on your own computer: NetworkMiner.
When PcapAI Is Not the Right Tool
- Your captures cannot be uploaded to an outside service, or the network is air-gapped. On-premise deployment is by request only.
- Captures are larger than 50 MB. Trim them first (how to reduce a PCAP) or use a desktop tool.
- You need to watch live traffic. PcapAI analyzes saved captures only.
- The capture is 802.11 monitor-mode (radiotap), USB or Bluetooth.
- The question is voice or video quality: PcapAI does not measure RTP jitter or loss.
What "AI" Means in Each Tool
PcapAI: protocol parsers and rules find the problems: 100 network diagnosis rules and 69 MITRE ATT&CK techniques. A language model only writes the PDF summary, from the findings, and never receives the capture. The free summary uses no AI.
PacketSafari: an AI copilot and an agent investigate the capture with you and write reports, with the frames behind each answer.
Meraki AI PCAP Analyzer: text marked AI-generated summarizes the likely cause in the dashboard. Meraki's documentation says Proactive PCAP files in the US region may be used to train its AI/ML.
logcat.ai: you ask the capture questions in plain language.
Red Hand, Wireshark, Zui, NetworkMiner: no AI claims; analysis is rules, decoders or your own work.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a free AI PCAP analyzer?
Yes, with limits. PcapAI's summary is free without an account for captures up to 20 MB, and the PDF report costs $9. Red Hand Analyzer is free with an hourly limit. Wireshark, Zui and the free edition of NetworkMiner run on your own computer at no cost, but they do not write a report.
Which PCAP analyzer writes a PDF report I can send to a client?
PcapAI writes a client-ready PDF for every capture: a one-page summary, the evidence, fix steps with owners and the coverage of what was checked. PacketSafari's agent writes reports for its customers inside its platform. With Wireshark, the analyst writes the report by hand.
Can I analyze a capture without uploading it?
Yes, with desktop tools: Wireshark, Zui and NetworkMiner run on your computer, and PacketSafari and CloudShark sell on-premise deployments. PcapAI and the other online analyzers need the capture uploaded; PcapAI deletes uploads without an account after 24 hours.
Try PcapAI on Your Own Capture
Upload a .pcap or .pcapng file up to 20 MB, no account needed. The free summary takes about two minutes; the client-ready PDF is $9, refundable within 7 days.
